Steph: AP English and its critical moments

May 6th, 2012

So far, I feel that AP English has gotten to me to become a stronger writer. With a whole bunch of grammar improvements, I feel that I am still growing as a writer. Ok, this is too serious for me, let’s get down to the fun.

With all the texting, reading, and MONDAY’S ESSAY writing, AP English as been fun and stressful class, no lies, but will all the happy moments, and serious moments AP English is class that I don’t regret taking. Being truthfully honest, after the test which is on THURSDAY, (THURSDAY PEOPLE, THURSDAY!) cough* and not far way from now, Let’s all Do our best to get that 3, 4, or 5.

Frankenstein: Puppet Show

Stephanie: AP SAT

April 15th, 2012

I did terrible. Just like Nathaly, i got 18 correct. When it came down to the essay, my mind blanked on Question 2, the prose. First, I started with the open, then worked my way backwards. But when I got to the prose, I went blank, skipped it, and moved to the poetry. When I went back to the prose one, I felt that needed more practice of understanding the attitudes. I will be practicing out of the yellow book and maybe from other AP books.

I can’t remember anything funny, but a lot of good things in my life have happened. =)

The Awakening: Nightly Text #11 (Chs 31-33)

March 13th, 2012

I’m happy to report that I received the most texts last night — 20 — since the beginning of the unit. But the bad news is that David, who was undefeated, forgot to do his text! The only undefeated people now are Antonio, Nathaly, Stephanie, and Pauline. (Yes, three of the four are Isero Advisees!)

What does Edna think of her pigeon-house? What were the disadvantages and advantages? What does Mr. P think?

Nate:  Edna thinks of the house as a place that she enjoys. The disadvantage is that it is small like a house for pigeons and advantages are that it is her place of peace. Mr P accepted the place.  The home also gave her a bit of peace by allowing her to understand the meaning of life.

Rashada: I think Edna finds the pigeon house a place where she can be free from Mr.P. She feels like she is free when she’s there and that she can do as she pleases with Robert.

Pauline: Edna thinks that her pigeon-house is amazing and it pleases her. She is fond of her house and it seems as though that is the only thing that keeps her happy. A disadvantage is that she wants to be like the pigeon, free. Something new is awakening inside her that could affect her family and her relationship with her husband.

Nathaly:  Edna is pleased with her house. Even though her house is small she is able to find strength and expand spiritually. Mr. p disproves of her moving into the pigeon house.

When Mr. P gets his wife’s letter about the house, what is his attitude? What does he do, and why?

Steph:  Mr. P’s attitude about the house is that he is sad that his wife wants to leave the house. After he receives that letter, he begged Edna to reconsider. But he remembers about how Edna’s “whimisical” and lets Edna have her way.

Wendy: When Mr. P gets his wife’s letter about the house, he got angry but not because his wife was leaving him but because he was afraid that his reputation and position in society was going to be damaged. As a consequence, what he decided to do was to remodel the house where they lived so that people could think that is why Edna left. He wants to maintain his good reputation. This clearly demonstrates that Mr. P does not love Edna and all he cares about is a good title and what people think about him.

Sarai:  When Edna wrote to her husband about abandoning her home he wrote back dissaproving with her decision. She gave him explinations and he was still not accepting 10:19 PM

Sarai Silvestre:  When Edna wrote to her husband about abandoning her home he wrote back dissaproving with her decision. She gave him explanations and he was still not accepting it. He told her to think about what other people would say about her leaving. Since Edna is like a trophy to him he doesn’t want people to know that she is leaving him. He was also thinking about his financial integrity.

When Edna goes to visit her children, what is her reaction? Why do you think she reacts that way?

Mercedes:  When Edna visits her children she is happy & thinks about them a lot after the visit. I think she feels this way because she finally has time to herself which is allowing her to grow. Edna is becoming grateful for others around her since she is starting to become happy & free.

Monae: To me it seemed like she was distant from her kids and I think deep down she felt bad that she was lusting away her time thinking it was love and she felt in denial about not really being a mother.

Leo: She hugs them tight. I think the reason is that she is unconsciously concern about her children’s future. Those children could be the last big road block that hinder Edna from seeking freedom. Also I think she feels a little bit guilt to her children because she was not taking good care of them and not being good mother that fits social expectation.

Marco:  She is happy to see her children because she hasn’t seen them in a long time. They catch up with what they haven’t experienced together yet.

What does Madame Ratignolle tell Edna? Do you agree with her? Explain.

Dezmond:  Madame Ratignolle tells Edna that she’s been acting like a child. Yes I absolutely agree with her because Edna is rash. She does whatever she wants as long as it benefits her.

Chris: Madame ratignolle tells Edna that she has a lonely lifestyle where she is disconnected from others. She also says that alcee’s intentions could ruin her  name. In my opinion, she is right because Edna is tempted by other men. This pushes her into a place where she is very alone, due to her inner conflicts of being independent and free.

When Edna asks Robert to stay for dinner, what’s his COMPLEX reaction? And why do you think he reacts that way?

Brenda:  Robert hesitated on eating dinner with Edna because he made an excuse about having to see his mother. He had been avoiding her, especially being alone with her. He’s in love with her, but she’s married. Once he saw her sad face, he couldnt bare to see her like that and stayed for dinner.

Carmen:  He rejects Edna to come into her house which makes her extremely sad yet later he feels bad and comes in. I think he reacts this way because he is no longer interested, he liked Edna at grand isle not the Edna from New Orleans. He does not truly know that Edna.

Antonio: Robert at first doesnt want to stay but then he sees edna’s pitiful reaction and he is compelled to stay out of concern.

What does Robert think of Arobin, and how do you know?

Kevin: I believe Robert thinks Arobin is a prick and is jealous of him. Robert does not like Arobin because he thinks he is taking Edna. I KNOW because I think so and I read.

Esteffany: Robert is jealous of Arobin, he dislikes the man. He believes that Edna has true feelings for him and he cannot take such thing. He knows that he is charming and all but does not want to see Edna fall in love with him.

Ellie:  Robert thinks that Arobin is important to Edna. In their conversation in chapter XXXIII Robert discovers a picture of Arobin and becomes jealous. I know  this because Robert questions why she still holds on to it and he asks why she never told him about Arobin. At the end he flings Arobin’s picture to the  side, indicating that the picture bothered him especially because it was in her possession.

JC:  He thinks Edna is basically “cheating” on him with Arobin and he thinks that because of the photo of Arobin that he finds.

Stephanie: Teenage Master of Language

March 11th, 2012

So in this article, a boy name Timothy Doner, 16 years old, knows about 13 languages. He started wanting to learn more about Hebrew. Then, he was drawn to learning Arabic and afterwards, he was drawn to more languages.

I am really impressed by this kid. Learning Languages is really hard for most people. But for Tim, it is so easy. I envy this kid. I too, want to learn more languages, but it is hard for me.

Stephanie: My thoughts about the book so far

March 4th, 2012

So far, I think this book is not that bad. I am a bit confused. Is Robert her son or what? If Robert is her son, then this book is strange. Anyway, I think the book is ok, it is not bad or good. That all I have to say.

Crisis in AP English after Chris keeps crown

January 27th, 2012

After 20 weeks of peaceful transfer of power, Chris today left AP English in chaos today after deciding not to choose a successive Student of the Week.

His reasoning? Nobody stepped up to deserve the award.

Bedlam ensued. Some students looked to Mr. Isero for guidance. How could this happen? What does this mean for order and tranquility and all that is good in the world?

The usually respectful and kind APers demanded retribution. At one point, a majority vote called for a change in leadership, even if that meant revenge (perhaps like Chillingworth). One student asked for democracy and “checks and balances.”

After Chris’s controversial announcement, the rest of Forced Fun took on a more contentious tone than usual. Stephanie received criticism for her wrapping skills, Mr. Isero got booed for his $300 field trip grant, Rashada’s card included an inappropriate word obviously learned as a result of reading The Scarlet Letter, and Marco chose not to sing “Happy Birthday” until his lips were forcibly moved.

So many questions remain. What will happen tomorrow at AP Saturday? Will Chris be punished, and if so, by whom? Will he usurp Mr. Isero’s teaching role and run the class himself? Or will there be a revolution? Stay tuned.

Stephanie: Pearl!!

January 22nd, 2012

Since the beginning of The Scarlet Letter, there have been symbols that changes meaning in the book. One of those symbols is Pearl. Pearl is the illegitimate child of Hester (and Dimmesdale). Pearl is represented as a living sin which is a constant reminder for Hester. Hester sin is Adultery. By having Pearl as the leaving sin the town’s people see pearl as an evil child or a demon. At a young age Pearl is strong and mischievous child. She frequently asks her mother about the Scarlet letter. As the book progress, Pearl is slowly seen as a blessing. To Hester, Pearl is the reason the Hester is alive. The town’s people start seeing Pearl as a guardian. (I think.)

The significance of Pearl is that even though Pearl maybe seen as the evil and the living sin of Hester, but Pearl, herself, is a blessing that Hester sees. Like her name pearl, a pearl is a gem of the sea. The Sea life is not easy to life in, but able to produce such a gem is a blessing. As her name, Pearl is the blessing to Hester.

Stephanie: Thoughts about The Scarlet Letter

January 8th, 2012

My thoughts about The Scarlet Letter so far is that it is really a hard book to read. I find the book a bit interesting but not fully completely.

Stephanie: Siddhartha as a character

November 9th, 2011

The character, Siddhartha, is like a high class rich prince who wants to find his own enlightenment. To find this, he sets out with the Samanas then leaves, goes with Gotama, and also leaves because he does not think he can find enlightenment. In each group that Siddhartha joins, he gain skills, teaching, and wisdom, which he puts to test. The author has Siddhartha as a character who goes toward what he wants. In the beginning, the author has Siddhartha as a character who has good wisdom and skill, but then the author starts to change Siddhartha to a character who is wants to find his enlightenment

Stephanie: Epistolary Short Stories

November 4th, 2011

PART 1: SETHE

To my dear Oedipus,
It seems as if the days of my past have came back to taunt me. My two year old child, Beloved, shakes and destroys all, I am to tire from running. I am not going to run anymore. That ticket cost too much, so much that it hurts me and my family. Oh, oh how I want to be free; free from the misery and shame.
I decide to walk through the field to reach the house. That day was sunny and warm; the scent of dirt and dry hay fills the air. Slowly closing my eye, feeling the winds and sun, I slowly stroll through the fields. When I open my eyes, I there was something different. The air is must lighter than before, the field is more green and fresh. I though it is just my imagination, or is it really. Not just far way, a small water fall runs into a small pond. The scene is marvelous. Looking into the small pond, the water was so clear, I could see the bottom. I could just sit there and never have to worry.
Without any worries, I sit there until the last warmth of the sun fades; now I am in nothing but darkness. The cold winds slowly creeping around me. I just suddenly am noticing where the small water fall runs and the small pond flows, a small flicker of light shines. More and more of these small light glows brighter and brighter for every passing second, as the light grew bright humming starts filling the winds; I press the urge of my curiosity. Slowly I turn away.
Out of the fields, there the sun’s warmth wraps around the earthly grounds, traveling thou that field once again. I came finally came back home, there waiting at the porch steps old Paul D.
Sitting down at the old dinner table, I wonder, wonder if that small waterfall always been there, and the small clear lake, I wonder and puzzle by it. Why did I just notice it there know?

PART 2: OEDIPUS

To my dear friend Sethe
I struggle of find the answer to my question or finding the truth to the known. I am at lost, to what to do. I cannot help of knowing. They ask that I am blind by the truth. But I am not. I only wish for the better of my city. Did you know that I am a king, the king of this city, city name Thebes. But oh, oh, there is a problem, a problem that myself as a kings must do to solve, my city is dying, and the god has told me in order to save my city I must find out the murder of the last king. Yet, my blood boils, when that, that blind prophet says that I am the murder. Can you believe that? Oh, that prophet is a fool, who is blind.
Stepping out of alter, the fresh air around me, slowly but surely calms me. The fountain in the middle of the garden is surrounded flowers. Suddenly the sky darken, loud rumbles trembles across the sky. A few moments later, the sky clears up, the garden which I was originally in change, now the fountain was not in the middle but in the back, the flowers did not surround the fountain, but it surrounds me. A path of green grass lays a path before me. Following the grassy pathway, I came in a three way path. One of sides of path is grassy, bright and open. The other path is made of stones. The stone path is dark and gloomy surrounds my mountains.
On the grassy path way, I saw a small river. From the scorching heat, I head towards the river. Once at the river, the water is cool and refreshing. A breeze blows through, not far from the river, a small pastor of golden dud like flower bloom. Upon one glance, I puck the golden dud from the ground, a strong gust of wind blew up the dirt and dust. Unable to see, I close my eye and use my arm as a shield, with a blink of eye, the winds have died down. Blinking to see better, I found myself back at the garden where the fountain is the middle surround by the golden dud like flowers.

PART 3: STEPHANIE

Dear Sethe,
Setting upon a glazing star, I too wonder up into the sky. The twinkling star, with their mysterious light, I ponder in thoughts. My past, at times, slips into my present. But I wonder on a starry night sky about it.
My days consist nothing but from home to school and from school to home. One of my days on my home, the moonlight that lights my way, I stop at glaze into the diamond sparkles in the sky. Amaze by the twinkling lights, I tumble over something. As I slowly turn my head, it is dead body, a dead body. I am shock, lost and frighten out of my wits, as I closely examine the body, there is not blood or injury. Yet, the body does not move, moving closely to the body, a breathe inhale and exhale. The breathing calms my senses, but it seems that this person is sleeping on the side of a road, or is the person really sleeping on the side of the road.
When I look up, I find myself confound by four walls. This person is actually sleeping. It seems to be a boy sleeping quietly. Trying to escape, he wake up and grabs my arm. Slowly turning around, our eyes meet. His eyes where eyes that I have ever seen in my life, they where golden brown, it seems as if he is wearing contact lens. Sudden startle by the sudden grabbing of the arm, I quickly push the boy away and ran out the door. Once out the door, I find myself where I originally started, glazes upon the diamond like stars.

PART 4: SETHE

Oh Stephanie,
I do not feel sorrow for myself, but I do not wish to run away. I wish to return to that beautiful scene. The scene of the small waterfall runs into a small clear pond. Oh, oh, I wish to return that that scene. The sound of water running, sound of the flow of water trickling down, the scent of life.
Day after day, I take strolls through the field hoping to return. Day after day, I cannot return that marvelous scenery. After Paul D. ran out that ghost, I feel like something is not right. I start wonder if that marvelous scenery has something to do with the about my past. Oh, Stephanie, I am really am trying to remember, this is why I am in search for that scenery. But why cannot I find it. Why is it? Day and night I search; even Paul D. thinks I have gone crazy.
When sudden Beloved disappear, and Paul D. left me when he found out what happen to my child Beloved, I found myself being calmed by the smoothing winds, the fresh green field. The earth slowly soaks up the warmth of the sun; I quickly reconsider where I am. Rushing to the most marvelous place, when I finally arrive, the beautiful water fall, does not run. The small pond that once flow, no longer flows. The most beautiful scene flourish with life, not is drain, drain and dry. I am happy that I can be in the place where it is once the most beautiful place I have ever been, but drain from life and became dry, here I will sleep, sleep until I can flourish once again. Maybe this is my fate and destiny.

PART 5: OEDIPUS

To my dears friend Stephanie,
I sit upon the throne, where I rule can seek the help for my people, but why, must I suffer for the fate that is cast upon me. I should I curse the Gods or should I take pity in myself, for which, I do not understand. Jocasta, the wife and mother of me and my children, has hanged herself. For she cannot bare the truth, I too am ashamed. I once who is blind to the truth, is know the sight of mine is blind.
Here I lay upon the room, the room which bears all the sins, drifting to sleep. The cloud hurrying over the sky, it seems as if the time from day to night and night to day passes quickly here. From the time in the garden, to the pastor of golden dud like flower, I wonder why did I take the grassy field that open and bright. The grassy pathway that lead to the pastor, why did I take that path, why did not I take the one with the stones, maybe the fate that is place before me, shows me that I cannot change it, fate and destiny is set stone.
Lost thoughts, I did not notice I was at the same place where the strong gust of wind blew. I did not notice that I have arrived to the pastor. The golden dud like flower is no longer there, strange, but why? The golden dud looks like a clump of gold. I have lost everything, my family. At the pastor where once the golden dud grew and bloom, where all burn and caracoled, showing it once exist no longer exist.

PART 6: STEPHANIE

My friend Oedipus,
You seek for the truth to find the answer to the riddles. Is it wise to always know the truth even if it would hurt you? I can tell you this; I to want to know the truth, the boundary of find the truth must be drawn.
After realizing that I am stand in my own world, I quickly hurry home. Without my knowledge, the place I was in is place I met my fate or my doom. At the foot set of my door, quickly searching my keys, I feel that the moment I open my door to my house, I will cease to exist. Slowly opening the door, taking one step, that one step I can no longer return to my family. Stepping to the room that left, due my fright, that boy with the golden brown sits there smiling. I knew that I am forever bounder to the boy with golden brown eyes.

Stephanie: Response to Beloved

October 30th, 2011

When reading this book, I was confused in the beginning. I got confused when Sethe would switch from the present to the past. When switching from the present to the past, Sethe would not indicate the switch and just go right into the past memory.

Slowly I got into the pace of the reading, but it is still a bit confusing when Sethe switched from the present to the past. I also find it confusingly weird when Beloved suddenly appears from the water and just stays in 124. Why would Sethe let a stranger into her house, especially when she has the same name as her dead child?

Sethe is a runaway slave from Sweet Home. She is not just runaway slave, but she is also running away from her past. The biggest memory that taunts her is her daughter Beloved. After Sethe kills Beloved, Beloved’s sprit comes to 124 and haunts the house. When Paul D. comes to 124, he chased the sprit out of the house. Before he chases the sprit, he asks why she didn’t move from 124. Sethe’s response is that the “ticket”cost is too high and that she does not want to run away any more. In the beginning of the book, the author has Sethe not wanting to remember her past. As the story progresses, Sethe slowly starts to accept her past and face it to find her freedom.

Stephanie: I want a computerized brain

October 23rd, 2011

OK, here is a question: Is it just me who wants a computerized brain?

I mean, with a computerized brain, I could drag and paste books and any information that I needed into the memory drive. I WOULD NOT NEED TO MEMORIZE ANYTHING. All the information would be in my head saved and I could delete information or memories that I do not want.

Stephanie: Two in One World

September 30th, 2011

Two in One World

After a sad death, Gregor, who sacrificed himself to better his family, opens his eyes to a valley of wild grass. The fresh air fills his lungs, and the pure sun shimmers down upon Gregor like a warm blanket. Here Gregor thinks, “Ah, this must be heaven.” He slowly gets up and stretches his arms and legs. He is in an unknown form: neither human nor vermin, arms and legs of a human, but a body with a hard shell like armor. Gregor gets up and starts to head to a place where his feet can take him.

Around nightfall, Gregor stumbles upon a small light that flows upon the air through the forest. The small light flickers. Awed by the small star-like light, Gregor falls into memories of the past. He remembers his family and listening to the violin of his sister, the music slowly calming his anger and frustration. A small buzzing draws back Gregor from his memory; he notices tears flowing down his cheek, unable to stop them. Here Gregor thinks, “I’ll stay here for the night.” He takes three giant leaves and makes his bed.

As colors of the sky change, from black to greenish blue, Gregor wakes up with the singing of birds. Gregor thinks, “It’s time to get up and find work.” Not far there is the sound of water, gently flowing downstream. Gregor slowly walks toward the sound of the water. When he reaches the small river, the water is so blue and clear. Slowly dipping his hand into the water, the water feels cool against his skin. After washing up, Gregor starts to find himself some food. A sudden light breeze blows, and in the winds, a sweet fragrant surrounds him. He follows the sweet scent and finds himself in front of a valley of fruit.

There is a sign that catches Gregor’s eye: “Welcome to Hell, Village of Fruits. Please enjoy your stay, and don’t flare up.” Gregor thinks to himself, “Hell?!? It’s too flourishing to be hell. Whatever. I am hungry, my stomach comes first.”

Once inside the Village of Fruit, there is more fruit that can be imagined. There is one fruit that looks like alien food. The fruit has many shapes, colors, flavors, scents, textures, and styles. Yup, style: there are fruits that flow in the air. Surprised by all the fruit, Gregor does not know where to start to eat. So he just picks some fruit that is close to him. The one he picks is called Dragon’s Eye. The fruit is sweet and juicy, but when it really looks like a dragon’s eye.

As Gregor travel down the road, he comes to a town named Upside Downtown Meals. In this town, the name speaks for itself. The whole town is upside down. The roads are not really roads, but they seem edible; so do the walls, roofs, and street lamps. Nearby Gregor there is a tree. Instead of leaves, there are plates and silverware. Gregor goes up toward the tree and picks himself a plate and a fork, then walks down the roads and scoops up sunny-side maple eggs and cinnamon French toast off the walls of a building. As he walks, he eats whatever looks delicious. After his fourth plate, Gregor decides to move on again.

By noon, Gregor reaches a forest town called Happy Cinema. In this town, Gregor sees several large projector screens. On each screen there is a different show playing. In front of each screen there are mats laid out. The tree has popcorn tubes blooming every time a new show starts, and the old popcorn tube would just fall down to the ground. The trees leaves are different; some leaves are yellow, some are brown, and some are green. By the colors of the leaves, Gregor can tell that the yellow leaves are the butter popcorn tubes, the green leaves are kettle corn tubes, and the brown leaves were the caramel popcorn tubes. For the rest of the day Gregor decides to stay at Happy Cinema.

Not far away, the cool gentle breeze brushes against Meursault and slowly wakes him up. Meursault lies on the grassy field, while the sunlight bears down upon him. Here Meursault thinks, “Here I can be who I am.” Meursault lies there in the field for awhile, until he hears his stomach growl. He gets up and starts to find food. Traveling down the road, Meursault notices the clouds slowly drifting in the sky, he comes across a field. The name of the field is Emotion Growth. Here in the field each bundle of grass is a kind of emotion. Next to the field is a river, and by the river, the emotion of sadness and gloominess gathers. Where the most sunlight shines, the grass of happiness and excitement gather together. Right under the tree and in the shadows, the grasses of timid and shyness sway. Each step Meursault takes, he feels each of the emotions flowing into him. When suddenly the death of his mother comes into his mind, he wants to hurry out of the Emotion Growth.

As Meursault travels farther, he finds himself in a city, City of Fulfillment. In this city, the buildings are like modern-day building, steel skyscrapers, small family neighborhoods, parks, and playgrounds. A bit on the outskirts of the city there are huge acres of flowers. The field gives off warmth and comfort.

Hurrying along the road, as dawn approaches, Meursault decides to camp out for the night. He arrives to Sleeping Log Forest; there Meursault sleeps under the open starry sky. By the place he camps, Meursault’s dinner is blackberries. After picking the blackberries, he hands are stained by the juice. Slowly Meursault drifts off to sleep.
In the unknown place and time, both Gregor and Meursault do not know what may lie ahead of them. The unknown world, the time changes dramatically and quickly. The element of life and death surrounds them. In Gregory’s eyes, this world is about fun, but to Meursault, this world is about understanding.

From the Happy Cinema, Gregor wakes up to a strange sound. He decides to get up and move on. Traveling down the road, Gregor comes to the City of Fairyland. Here in Fairyland City anything can happen. Here Gregor decides to find work. As he walks through a small alley, he finds a small door, the size of the rabbit. He opens the door, and Gregor magically returns into a room. The room has black and white checker floorings; the walls are pale cream white, the room has a long counter that seems endless. On the counter there is a small bell. Gregor rings the bell quickly. Suddenly a young rabbit-like girl pops up. Gregor asks if there is work here. The girl says that there is always work throughout Fairyland City. So Gregor decides to take the offer to work in the small cafe. Gregor asks the girl, “What kind of shop is this?” The small girl relies, “This shop?!? This shop is a shop where magic happens, where the unknown happens and takes over a soul. A place to find what you are who you are, and what you will become.” Gregor gives a confused look. The small girl giggles and disappears.

Not far from Fairyland City, Meursault is fishing for his morning breakfast. Hours later, Meursault fails to catch any fish, so he decides to go to the next town to find breakfast. When Meursault enters Fairyland City, he walks along the crimson-color stone path. At the end of the crimson-color stone path, there is a huge heavy wooden door. As he pushes the wooden door open, a strong light blinds him. The scent of roasted meat fills his nose. He sees a table filled with food and sweets. Meursault sits down and starts to gobble down the food. After filling his stomach. Meursault decide to take a stroll.

After the disappearance of the small girl, Gregor leaves the shop and decides to wander around the city. Not far from the shop, Gregor decides to sit down in the park to relax. Once at the park, Gregor hears music playing, but looking around, he does not see anyone playing music. So Gregor follows the sound of music, and he comes up to a fountain. As the water flows down the fountain, music plays. Here Gregor sits on the nearby bench and listens to the music play.

During Meursault’s stroll, he hears music playing. He looks around and does not see anyone playing. He follows the sound of music, and comes up to a fountain. As the water flows down the fountain, music plays. Meursault thinks that the music playing is interesting, so he decides to rest here, in the park.

While Meursault rests and Gregor relaxes, there is a group of people marching toward them. They wear clothing of soldiers with heavy armor. The group slips into two. One group goes to Gregor and the other goes to Meursault. The soldiers state that they need to come with them and see the Queen.

Both of them arrive to the castle where the Queen awaits. As Meursault and Gregor enter, the Queen announce that both of the two strangers are to be put to death. Gregor asks why he has to be put to death.

The Queen says, “Your kind is must of a human. But your appearance is neither human nor animal. Meursault questions the Queen. She states, “You ate without paying. You show too much emotion, and yet you question me. Both of you are to be put to death in the morning star.”
