December 6th, 2008Some students say they like Google Docs but their Internet doesn’t always work at home.
Well, you can use Google Docs even without the Internet. This means that you can work on a document offline and sync it when the Internet works again.
If you have a laptop, this means you can work anywhere.

Finals Coming Up!
December 6th, 2008Finals are in just over a week.
For English 10, the Final is: (1) All 180 vocabulary words, multiple choice, (2) 50 questions on Breath, Eyes, Memory, multiple choice. The Final will be computerized. To prepare, make sure to bring your vocab cards, book, and notes to class every day. In addition, use the study strategies we practice in class.
For World Studies, the Final is: (1) Latin America Mural Project (group project and presentation, beginning Monday), (2) Latin America test (see study guide). To prepare, make sure to understand the project assignment and to complete the study guide early next week.

Eng10: New Unit!
November 7th, 2008This week, we begin a new unit in English 10. This is what you’re going to do:
- Read Breath, Eyes, Memory and take nightly notes and weekly quizzes
- Write a short story in the first person
- Participate in a Socratic seminar about the book
- Write a text-response paper about symbolism in the book
- Continue with your vocabulary

Eng10: Study your vocab online
September 8th, 2008There’s never an excuse not to be totally caught up with the words. Here’s why:
You can access the SAT words and definitions on the English 10 page. Just click on it. When you do, you’ll get a little PowerPoint presentation like the one below. Remember, keep your cards complete, updated…and study them often.
Eng10: The real school year begins!
September 7th, 2008Hey, English 10 students. You’ve started off well. I’m pretty impressed. But now the class is going to get a little harder, and I hope you’re ready.
The next three weeks, you’ll write a 3-5 page autobiographical incident. You’ll also do a mini-project where you’ll read some autobiographical incidents.

May 19th, 2008You’ve made it all this way, and now it’s time to celebrate!
Attend the Big Book Reading this Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., in your Advisory Room.
Be sure to:
- Be there and be on time,
- Wear professional dress,
- Bring an adult
- Read five minutes of your book,
- Be a respectful audience member.

May 12th, 2008It’s never too early to start thinking about Finals. See the Finals Schedule for details. Remember, English 10 students, that your final is a computerized, multiple-choice vocabulary test on all 500 words.
