iseroma live, one of the most popular features of iseroma.com (and a great way to get your office hours), is moving to Sundays, 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

I’m moving iseroma live to Sunday nights because Tuesdays were crazy for me and because many of you wanted to change the day.

Right now, iseroma live is only for my advisees.

Today we had our Advisory Closure, and despite the several instances of grumbling, the proceedings went well. Enrique reminded people to bring food, and Octavio provided the entertainment.

Before the fun began, Mr. Isero forced his advisees to do SSR, review a Winter Break assignment (the only Advisory homework in the school!), and write a nice letter to a peer.

The complaints and sarcastic comments abounded, especially when Principal Rood entered the room. Charity remarked that Mr. Isero is “always studious” and Chezlyn noted that the Isero Advisory was “going to college.” Ms. Rood called the group “the second cutest Advisory” after Ms. Turner’s, which was decorating ornaments down the hall.

All in all, it was a successful event. Students even decided to clean up! Now that makes any adviser happy!

After two years, iseroma.com gets a new look today. I hope that you like the redesign: brighter, cleaner, happier.

Besides looking good, the new design is geared to encourage more students and families to interact with the site. I’m hoping that students, especially my advisees, will post original content and that everyone will feel free to interact with each other and write comments.

We were supposed to have our November Birthday Celebration tomorrow, but because of the Thanksgiving holiday, Birthday Coordinator Enrique decided to postpone the festivities until next Monday.

Check out the Halloween-themed service opportunities with buildOn this Thursday, 4-7 p.m., and this Saturday.

buildOn always has the best service opportunities, and this weekend is no exception.

This Saturday, Oct. 10,  help out at a lacrosse tournament at Kezar Stadium. There are two shifts: 8-12 and 12-2. There are no more permission slips, so email Ashley at ashley.shult@ge.com to get one.

This Monday (when you have no school), Oct. 12, work at the SF Food Bank. The shift is 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Print out this the permission slip.

Next Monday is Indigenous People’s Day. There is no school.

Tuesday is a Monday schedule.

Wednesday is the PSAT. You will be in Room 316 from 8:00 to 11:20.

Here’s another extremely easy community service opportunity.

Just walk downstairs to the first floor, help some younger students with their homework, and get service hours!

The Beacon Center wants LHS students to help out middle school students. This is where you come in.

See Eric Drobny, our AmeriCorps volunteer, to sign up. The training is Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 1:45 p.m. in the Beacon Center.

We’re getting into the habit of the every-other-week Wednesday assignment. Last week, your progress report was due (although only 5 of you turned it in). This Wednesday, it’s the Attendance Assignment.

Remember that you can get copies of forms at the Forms page. But here is an embedded version of the assignment that you can download or print.

The PSAT is coming up Oct. 14. Some of you have asked, “How can I study for the PSAT?”
