February 19th, 2012Dezmond: 4-day weekend
February 19th, 2012This 4-day weekend has been a very unproductive one. I went to see Chronicle like Kevin. I also wish someone told me it was whack. I’m trying to figure out my lines for Hamlet to at least ready myself to make the memorization easier. Anyway, it’s late, almost 11, and I think I’ll head out to the gym. However, lately I’ve been feeling that the gym isn’t enough. I want to start getting back into playing basketball and going swimming. I hope I can accomplish both soon. See you APers on Tuesday.
Brenda: Hamlet Trivia
February 19th, 2012I was reading about the Hamlet movie we are watching in class, and I found interesting facts about it.
Did you guys know that Kate Winslet (Ophelia) found out that she earned the role of Rose in Titanic on the day she filmed the straitjacket scene? I also read that Judi Dench, Robin Williams, and Billy Crystal were in the movie and that Robin and Billy couldn’t be on the set together because they would make everyone laugh. Something I noticed was that Kenneth Branaugh (Hamlet) and Timothy Spall (Rosencrantz) were both in Harry Potter as Professor Lockhart and Wormtail, respectively.
Kevin: Past Four Days
February 19th, 2012We played our championship game this weekend. We lost. This really sucks because this was the seniors’ last year to play basketball. What makes this weaker is I went to go see Chronicle. I wish somebody would have told me that movie is whack. Currently, I am playing Call of Duty, Free for All and I am winning every time. Hamlet is boring so I am playing Xbox. Come play with me, gamer-tag is: TFKevdunkZ510. C’mon, I am playing all alone right now.
JC: This freakin’ 4-day weekend
February 19th, 2012My weekend has been alright so far. I haven’t really been doing anything besides play basketball and chill with my family and old friends. For Valentine’s Day, I wanted to do something, but I ended up not doing as planned because the person I asked was busy that day. It’s weird how you can just think about how people feel that they always have to do something romantic for that day. I just wanted to chill with that one person and take her out because not only did she deserve it, but also because she’s a great friend and I wanted to. Really, I didn’t want to give flowers and a teddy and chocolate because I wanted to show her that she was unique and she deserves better than just the regular gifts. But nothing happened.. I guess there’s always next year? Lol. Yeah, that’s about it. There’s nothing else to say. I’m just watching some Family Guy right now. Pretty cold in this house right now too. Oh well. Peace you guys.
Ellie: Reno, Circus Circus
February 19th, 2012My life is amazing right now and my relationship is thriving. I am happy it is not like Hamlet. My boyfriend is not going crazy and my father is well and alive and crazy like always.
Right now, I am actually in Reno about to get ready to go out tonight. This trip has been interesting; that is about the only word that can describe this trip.
I have been with my family and boyfriend. I am really happy. I don’t want to go back to school.
I am sort of excited for the test. I want to take it to see what I am capable of and how good I am at English. Well, have to get going! I hope everyone else is having an amazing weekend.
Marco: AP. Hamlet. Life.
February 19th, 2012This four-day weekend has just been amazing
I’ve gotten so much rest I feel I can do anything. I’m actually really looking forward to the AP test in May. I wish I could take it now because I’m confident that I, along with everyone else in the class, will pass.
I don’t like Hamlet anymore. Now that I have to memorize lines, I feel like Hamlet has become boring for some reason. I don’t like memorizing things; it makes me dislike whatever it is I have to memorize a lot.
My life is awesome. I feel like I have a lot of time to distract myself from academic work, and it keeps me sane. Even though I have A LOT of things to do, I am able to enjoy my free time so that I can go back to put all my focus into my work.
That’s all for now
<3
Antonio: Hamlet
February 19th, 2012For me, Hamlet has been all over the place. I tried really hard to make sure that I was consistent in reading the book every night; however that was not the case. I’m happy to be able to say that I am completely on track with my reading. Also, I am happy to say that I understand what is happening in the book even without using Sparknotes or the movie. Felling pretty good about this book.
Chris: My take on Hamlet
February 19th, 2012Hamlet has become a lot easier to understand. Now that the pace has started to pick up, the story has more drama. This drama allows me to understand what is happening a lot more clearly. I’m hoping that it stays the same till the end. Other than that, I understand the book well and feel confident for the project.
Wendy: Hamlet Experience
February 19th, 2012
Reading Hamlet has been great. I had heard many people talk about Hamlet. They always told me it was a hard and boring book. However, I personally have enjoyed the book greatly. Yes, it has been hard, but I have used the resources available to me to make it easier. Hamlet has changed the way I see things such as revenge. Before I believed that revenge was sometimes okay, but after reading Hamlet, I’ve learned that it is not. Revenge is never good because it can destroy a family and all those who you love.
Rashada: Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
February 19th, 2012Okay so I’m super stoked to do this Hamlet project!! After all, I went to Shakespeare camp when I was 8! Lol sorry Chavonni! But anyways, life is going good. I’m at a good place in my personal life. I’m super excited for CHEERLEADING to start this week as well. We have about 14 girls coming! It’s going to be awesome. How’s everyone liking Hamlet? I didn’t really like it at first because I didn’t understand it, but after we watched the movie, I understood it!:) Go Hamlet!
Chavonni: Hamlet and stuff
February 19th, 2012I wasn’t expecting to like the book Hamlet. That translation thingy really has helped me understand Hamlet better. But I am not excited about doing the play at the ASM. I feel like I have done enough trying to memorize things for this year, but I am going to try to keep a positive attitude about it and make it fun as I possibly can, even though I have like two lines. I want to get it over with, so my team’s scene will be the first scene for the project. Other than that, AP English is going well for me. I am raising my grade in this class, and my senior sickness is cured
Mr. Isero cares about me and I appreciate that. He is the only teacher who cares if I am slacking and not preforming my best in their class, and actually tries to help me get back on my feet. He motivated me to do better in my other classes as well. Shout out to Isero!!
Nathan: Hamlet is confusing
February 19th, 2012The book that we are reading right now is so confusing. I think at least 3/4 of the time, I do not know what is going on. I try to read it over and over, but sometimes it doesn’t work like that. I think that if it was not for SparkNotes, I would be even more lost than I already am! At least we are almost on to the next book.
Mercedes: OMG!
February 17th, 2012The Leadership boys basketball team has made it to the championship! The game was very intense. I lost my voice due to all the screaming that I did but I do not mind, it was for a good cause. I am really proud of the boys, they showed true grit. All of their hard work paid off. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend tomorrow’s game; someone should keep me updated:). Everyone should go and support them (especially the seniors) at Kezar Stadium, where they will be playing against Bay at 3:30! GO LEADERSHIP.
Nathaly: Truth is…
February 16th, 2012…I’ve been putting things back and waiting for dates to come and pass. I’ve been forgetting about important things that I should be taking seriously. Every time I feel like I should be looking through my emails and working on scholarships, I get lazy and I just want to have my me time. All I want to do is relax and sleep sometimes. The maximum things I do is complete my homework, which is not how I should be spending my time. As a result, I am now being organized and making a list of things I should be working on.
Pauline: Mayor’s Cup Nat’l Showcase in Vegas!
February 16th, 2012
Well, most of you guys know I love soccer, but now I am even more excited to play! This weekend I have a tournament in Las Vegas and we will be playing against different teams around the world(mostly Canada and Mexico). Our first game will be against Canada. Our second will be against Wisconsin and the third will be against Nevada. Also, if we continue to the quarter or semi-finals, we might even play a team from Mexico. Unfortunately, I got injured yesterday, but hopefully that doesn’t infringe me from playing. Many coaches will be there from around the country, so hopefully all goes well. BYE-BYE! = )
David: Liking the Mobile Site!
February 16th, 2012I like this mobile website! I can do my Weekender while in class! Well, I will talk a little about Hamlet. The play is kind of cool, but it is hard to understand. That is just how Shakespeare’s work is. Some of his other work is cool and easy, like Romeo and Juliet. Just at this moment, we are doing ‘close reading’ to have a better understanding of his work! Other than all this school stuff, I am going to Los Angeles this weekend, and I don’t feel like going, only because it is a long drive, but I guess it will be fun.
Esteffany: Mommy
February 12th, 2012This week has been good to me! I have gotten an amazing honor, and I am proud. I am not only proud of my work but also because I made my mom happy. She is the reason why I do what I do. I know that it is for my future and what not, but she has motivated me to do great things. I am proud of making my mom proud of me.
This was a way to show her that I love her and that I am thankful for everything she has done for me. As a student, I know I have not been my greatest, but I am willing to do all the work now. I am free of many things right now. I am ready for everything! Life is full of surprises and I cannot wait for the next one.
Life…
Chavonni: Life status
February 12th, 2012The positives in my life is that I got accepted into one college. I never thought I would make it this far because I don’t feel like I have that many people supporting me and I lost motivation for a while, but my motivation now is I want to finish off school strong because I’m tired of my house.
A negative in my life right now is my laziness. I always put things off until the last minute. I’m always tired. And I need to hurry up and do some scholarships. It’s like I know I need to do something and I’ll be thinking about that thing I have to do all day but still never do it -__- but I’m going to try to do things earlier.
Antonio: Current State of Life
February 12th, 2012It feels like I’ve been in a daze for a while. It’s like I’m sailing through life watching events unfold. I don’t think this is a good way to feel, at least while I’m this young. I’m too young to be having a mid-life crisis haha. But things are looking up. I’m starting to get closer to a lot of people who I don’t usually talk to and I’m beginning to rekindle old relationships. However, some are starting to slip away. I don’t think I know enough people for the 150 rule to be taking effect. Ok PEACE
David: Life After Graduation
February 12th, 2012So as of now, I think I am liking what will happen when I graduate. But there are always negatives to it! Which I hate so much!
After all, I hope it all works out. It is so far away, so I am not really worrying as much as I was before. I do hope I get better grade in AP English. Well later you guys! Hope you had a good weekend. Ready for school again??
Nathan: Life
February 12th, 2012As of now, I do have negatives in my life but I really try to put them to the side. I try to allow the positives overcome the negatives so I can finish my senior year and have fun doing it. I am mostly excited to be done with high school and move onto bigger and better things (college). This has been a highly anticipated year for many of us, well, the whole world’s class of 2012! Graduating is something that everyone should be looking forward to because of all the hard work that each individual has done.
Stephanie: My endless cycle
February 12th, 2012If I had all the time in the world, what would I do with it? Let’s see… what would I do?… Oh, I know I would stop the endless time for myself because I know the time is always moving forward. But what if I could move time back? What would I do? hmm… Let’s see… remove all my embarrassing moments.
My endless cycle is revolved around time. I just want more time for myself and to do things. With so little time and soooo many thing to do… I feel the endless cycle of my stress.
Ellie: Positive and Negative
February 12th, 2012Life is wonderful right now. I just got back from Bakersfield. I spent the entire weekend with my family, and I realized how much I missed them. I am very grateful to have my family in my life. I know how lucky I am to have both of my parents and a loving family that supports me.
The negative things in my life would have to be that one of my uncles has cancer and he is really sick, and it was really difficult to say goodbye, knowing that by the time I come back to Bakersfield, he might not be there anymore.
I also want to improve my grades so I am going to work really hard this week.
Happy Sunday everyone!!
Dezmond: Health issues
February 12th, 2012So my health has been at an up and down since my junior year and I’ve been mainly trying to keep my body healthy over the past couple years. I think i’ve been making some progress!
It’s been 1 year and 3 1/2 months since I’ve had soda. Let’s see how long I can keep that up. I’ve also found the courage to join the gym again
. However, I’ve been sick so much lately that I haven’t really gone to the gym, I haven’t been eating as much, and I feel lazy. So now that I’m almost over my sickness (give me a day or two), I’ll be back to 1000% in no time and I’ll be healthier than ever!
Sarai: Positives and negatives in my life right now
February 12th, 2012At this moment, I am really happy and I am enjoying life! I’m really excited because Leadership Girls Soccer is starting this Wednesday. I am really excited to play and finish my last year strong!
A negative thing is my grade need to get higher than what it is right now. I was doing well, and I need to get back into that mood. I know I am capable of doing it, and I know I will. I’m going to finish this year positive and not negative!
Marco: Marco Time :)
February 12th, 2012Lately, I’ve had very good and happy days
I am doing more homework for my classes, and I am starting to procrastinate less. Pre-Calculus is a class that I am struggling in. I need to pay more attention and attend office hours because I have not turned in a lot of the recent homework due to the fact that I haven’t paid a lot of attention. Today, I am going to go downtown and have In-n-Out with the BCA boys
I have to get ready for that, so bye
Chris: My view on AP English and Hamlet
February 12th, 2012So far, I think that AP English is pretty good. I have learned a lot over the last few months. But this book Hamlet is driving me crazy. I literally read everything and do not understand 95% of the things that Shakespeare is trying to say. I know that I just have to read a little bit slower, but the frustration just gets to me. Hopefully I can get through it.

Wendy: Hamlet’s Skull
February 12th, 2012So I was looking for pictures to upload about Hamlet, and a lot of pictures of Hamlet holding a skull appeared. This captured my interest and I researched it. I found out that the skull is actually a symbol for Hamlet’s debate about death. It represents how close he wants to be to death and the physical realization to death. Moreover, it represents his to be or not to be speech.
Brenda: Field trip suggestions?
February 11th, 2012Hey everyone! As the field trip planner, obviously, I have to plan field trips. Since you guys are the ones who will be going to the field trips, I would like your suggestions.
They could be anything, from going to a cafe or watching the film version of a book. I know David suggested to go read at the park when the weather gets better.
